One person was unaccounted for following the crash of a small plane into a seven-story building that houses CIA and FBI offices as well as other governmental offices, Al Arabiya reporter said.

There was "no known link to terrorism" the Department of Homeland Security said, noting that the cause of the crash was not yet known.

The plane took off from George Town Airport in Texas, Al Arabiya reporter said.

He added that the pilot's name was Joseph Andrew Stack and he was believed to have purposely set his house on fire before taking off with the plane. His wife and son have been rescued and the wife is currently being questioned.

Assistant Austin Fire Chief Harry Evans said two people have been taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Thick black and gray smoke was billowing out of the second and third stories of the building as fire crews using ladder trucks and hoses battled the fire.

Dozens of windows were blown out of the hulking black building, which houses offices of the Internal Revenue Service. Vehicles traveling on a nearby highway paused to look.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the agency was investigating but had no immediate information on the type of plane or how many people were on board.
