An Idea...Restore Islam to it's original State‏

Salamun Alaykum

I have been thinking and thinking. What could be the reason why the traditional clergy has been so successful in spreading their misinformation as well? On top of that they are being regarded as the de facto scholars or torch bearers of Islam by most goverments and people in authority. This unatenable situation in my mind is the reason why their statements are presently being regarded as the correct Islamic view and law and that Muslims are bound by it, no matter how irrational it is. No matter how much concerned people dispute these statements on topics such as Talaq, Underage Marriage, Stoning, Wife beating, Polygamy, Women's dress code, Fatwas declaring death to apostates, etc, the list goes on and on. Their fatwas are regarded as the accepted Muslim position on these issues and as such decent and moral people find it difficult to see the true Islam which is unlike the illogical nonsense being spewed by the mullah. Sadly the same view is probably held by most democratic governments as well. In fact some democratic governments even contribute financially towards Islamic organisations which is in fact only a guise for the mullah to propagate the mullah islam. In reality such funds could be better utilised to spread the message of the True Islam.
So how do we go about this you might think? How do we go about as an additional step towards liberating the world and Islam from the clutches of the mullah? This is not so difficult as we might think. It just requires us to put our shoulder to the wheel and work towards the Quranic system together to start to achieve True Islam’s victory over the centuries old false dogmas . Therefore I am writing to you to ask for your assistence to develop this ideal. I sincerely hope that we will work on this idea, build on it, expand on it and refine it so that it can be introduced to the necessary roleplayers to take their place. I propose for it to work in the following manner as a starting point:

First step:

Identify prominent scholars around the globe that strive towards the true Islam. Some scholars that come to mind are: Dr Edip Yuksel, Dr Shabbir Ahmed, Dr Abdur Rab, Arnold Mol, Dr Ashgar Ali Engineer, Farouk A Peru, Dr Qamar Zaman, Dr.Muhammad Shahrur, Dr Aisha Musa, Dr.Lubna Almenoar, Dr. Ahmed Subhy Mansour, Dr. Manzoor-ul-Haque, Dr Ahktar Serazi, Dr Ayman, Dr Amina Wadud, Prof Fatima Marnissi, Kassim Ahmad, Layth Saleh al-Shaiban, Melody Moezzi , Dr T.O. Shanvas, Sulaiman Ebrahim, Abdullahi an-Na'im, Irshad Manji, Mohammad Mova Al Afghani, Dr Wasim Khan, etc.

There are many scholars out there that I did not mention so do not regard this brief list of names as the preferred list. This is just an illustration of how it should work and examples of scholars that I think that could serve together as a unified body. But the aim will be to get as many scholars together to form a World Ulama body. It can be debated on later as what to name such a body and it’s subsidiary functions. But the proposed main function of this body should be to put in place a marketing/secretariat to introduce this body to the world. Secondly to use all of it’s influence to have it recognised by all governments as a legitimate Islamic body that speaks for Islam in the true sense in contrast with the illogical mutterings of the mullah. To illustrate by example, when Dr Zakir Naik is interviewed on mainstream television and he justifies child marriages in Islam, this World body will then put out a statement to negate such a false belief about Islam and expound the true position of Islam to the world. I am certain that in a short space of time such a body will become recognised the world over and by peace-loving humans. This is just one example but I think many other uses will be found for this body. So the first step would be to constitute the organisation with willing participants of scholars.

Our initial communication and brainstorming can easily be held via technology as I believe that technology can become an enabler of introducing the Real Islam to the world and our millions of brothers and sisters who are being held hostage by the Mullah fear tactics and compulsory blind following. Surely it will contribute to removing the shackles from the brains of our brilliant youngsters who unfortunately are too scared to question the clergy.

This is my initial communication to you and other scholars and I trust that this idea will be accepted and expanded on towards placing Islam again at the forefront of humanity.
