"What is now proved was once only imagined."
William Blake

Who could have thought a year ago that the entire world would be memorializing the anniversary of a fruit vendor’s death in Tunisia, an event that catalyzed a nation’s voice around a shared desire for justice? Last week, many of us were in Egypt to revisit and remember that nation's loud response on January 25th. It hasn't stopped, nor will it, this global movement sparked by the Arab Spring.  It is transforming the current media landscape just as it transforms the lives of all those who are a part of these historical events.
Many of you were there in 2011 for those awesome, joyful, and sometimes terrifying weeks, and like us you will be forever changed by what occurred. Perhaps more importantly, many of you are STILL there, finding stories and doing your best to get them out, ensuring their small place in history. Whether you're in Syria or Iraq, Burma or Liberia, New York City, Mumbai or Sydney, the world is changing everywhere and you and I are witnesses; better yet, we are recording it.
And Transterra Media is there with you. We utilize the web, the world of social media, and our deep network of contacts to get your work sold and shown on an international platform. Our goal is to help you as an independent media producer to tell the stories you are passionate about in a way that is sustainable. Post your work to our website and we’ll broker it to global news organizations and other media outlets that are increasingly relying on access to local contributors for content.  This enables you to return to the streets and continue producing media that reflects this unique time in history.
Go to www.transterramedia.com to start contributing your stories. While there, you can hear the riveting story of 31 year old Shaimaa Elghandor, who tells of the beatings she endured at the hands of the military police while demonstrating for a better Egypt.

As the #jan25 anniversary passes, we will be pitching the brave work of Transterra photographers and videographers who have been documenting the Egyptian revolution from its inception. Check out these links below.
From Burma and Thailand, Transterra contributor Steve Sandford brings us stories that may have fallen off the front page but are no less momentous. Gregory Stemn reports from Liberia, and award winning journalist Angela Shah sends her regular dispatches from the gulf. Where are you right now?
If you don't already have an account at Transterra, please go to www.transterramedia.com and sign up. Complete your profile and upload a few pieces of your work. Let us know what stories you want to tell and we will carry your voice to a global audience.
 Have a great year!
 Thank you,
Best Regards,
