Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim has called for firm action by security forces after the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Anti-Coup Alliance announced a wave of "peaceful civil disobedience" starting Friday.
Ibrahim, speaking at a Central Security Forces parade on Thursday, said troops were well aware of Egypt's political situation and must prepare to face off demonstrations by the Muslim Brotherhood firmly and decisively.
The interior minister claimed further demonstrations by the Muslim Brotherhood aimed at promoting violence to sew chaos in Egypt.
The National Alliance in Support of Legitimacy has called for massive demonstrations on Friday against what it calls the supporters of the military coup.
