Prosecution extends detention for Islamists under questioning

Prosecutors have ordered extensions to detentions of Islamist figures for another 15 days, as questioning continues over violence that erupted in Giza's Bein al-Sarayat neighbourhood, killing 23 and injured over two hundred more.
 
Figures who will remain in custody are Salafi preacher Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, Muslim Brotherhood leader Helmy al-Gazzar and Brotherhood-linked lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud.
 
Wasat Part chief Abul Ela Mady and former MP Mohamed al-Omda will also be detained.

Prosecutors also accused suspects of murder, attempted murder, forming a terrorist group to intimidate citizens and threatening national security.
