Foreign Affairs Minister Nabil Fahmy discussed the issue of water security and the crisis concerning the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam with the Deputy Minister for African Affairs, the coordinator of the Nile water file, and the Assistant to the Minister for International Legal Affairs.

The meeting tackled issues regarding relations between Egypt and Nile Basin countries, and how to improve that relationship. They also discussed the next steps in implementing an agreement between the Egyptian and Ethiopian foreign ministers to hold a meeting of water resources ministers in Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.

In the meeting, the Foreign Minister requested swift coordination with the concerned authorities in implementing the recommendations of the international experts committee, which called on Ethiopia to provide additional studies to assess the potential effects of the dam on the countries located downstream, Egypt and Sudan.
