Public’s candidate for the presidency
The political mobility in Egypt increases day after day, the numerous voices are raising to demand reform from the national forces. The government stands in a difficult position against any attempt to reform or amend the constitution to allow the practices of a healthy democracy as demanded by the political street. Despite all the regime's attempts to isolate the citizens form the management of its affairs and the full rein of its judgment, the citizens are waking up day after day in the hope of a better tomorrow. Many people are wondering where the way to activate the role of these activists in the process of real reform which would have been touched by the Egyptian citizen.
Here comes the role of elite leaders and thinkers in the political parties to provide the population with a candidate for the presidency, they should agree to support and work with him on a reform program that honestly and realistically addresses the needs of the citizens. They should support this candidate to be the real competitor against the current regime, in an opportunity for the next year's presidential election under the impossibility for the time being of amending the Constitution.
No matter how difficult the circumstances were, participation is the solution and continuing is the way to reform what we are in. In contrast to the province, this will only increase our isolation.
Therefore, RDP calls all the political parties to agree on the presidential candidate, to start identifying him with the public and to formulate his political agenda. This may be the last opportunity, so the parties should seize it as they will be responsible in front of both the citizens and the history.
