Rabbi Arik Ascherman, a leading voice in promoting human rights in Israel and Palestine, has headed Rabbis for Human Rights - Israel (RHR-Israel) since it was founded in 1988.  RHR-Israel  works to prevent human rights violations in Israel and the Occupied Territories, and to bring human rights grievances to the attention of the Israeli public through education and advocacy. Rabbi Ascherman graduated from Harvard University and was ordained by Hebrew Union College in New York in 1989.
